Brentwood Bay is a small rural village on the Saanich Peninsula.
In an effort to stimulate their downtown core, and resolve vehicular and pedestrian issues, the community contracted Associated Engineering to explore re-developed downtown with wider sidewalks, larger and more frequent crosswalks, curb flairs, and a roundabout. The community identifies strongly with ties to the Saanich Fair and Butchart Gardens, therefore the landscape treatment is “gardenesque” with an emphasis on bloom, perennials, traditional furnishings and classic lighting.
The final development included a MoT approved roundabout, structural soils for tree planting in hard surfaced areas, construction carried out in existing business core, ducting for future underground Hydro power supply, ornamental lighting, landscaped median, 2.5 m sidewalks with feature paving, stamped concrete crosswalks, and highly landscaped design with both soft and hard landscaping features.
