The consultant team consisted of Associated Engineering (civil engineer), Armin A. Preiksaitis & Associates Ltd. (planner), Sturgess Architecture (architect), Carlyle & Associates (landscape architect and urban designer), Bunt & Associates (transportation planner and engineer) and Strathearn Heights Ltd. (client).
Project Highlights
The Strathearn Height Redevelopment Project is a LEED Neighbourhood Development pilot project and the recipient of an Award of Merit 2008 from the Alberta Association Canadian Institute of Planners for the redevelopment plan.
Associated Engineering was retained to develop a Conceptual Site Servicing Report and Alternate Development Standards for the Project.
The Conceptual Site Servicing Report summarized the existing utilities, servicing concepts and budgetary servicing costs. The servicing concepts were determined for all utilities (sanitary, storm, water, power, gas, telephone, and cable television). The servicing concepts also included any utility upgrades off-site that were required to provide service to the redeveloped site. Upgrades included abandonment/removals, relocates and new installations.
The Alternate Development Standards is a drawing package with outlined new road cross-section standards that function with the plans for modern streetscapes within the project area. Associated Engineering’s role was to coordinate the placement of new utilities within roadways with the utility owners.
