Associated Environmental completed a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment of a historical site in downtown Whitehorse, which was required prior to the planned development of the site.
The Assessment was conducted based on seven areas of potential environmental concern identified in previous assessments. The work was conducted in accordance with the Canadian Standards Association protocols for Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (CSA Z769-00 R2016) and the Yukon Contaminated Sites Regulation (OIC 2002/171).
Project Highlights
The scope of work included interpretation of geophysical survey and leak test reports, installation of monitoring wells, and collection and analysis of soil and groundwater samples. Based on the results of the soil and groundwater sampling and a groundwater flow analysis, we were able to delineate soil contamination, characterize groundwater contamination, and provide recommendations for further work required to ensure the safety of nearby residents and businesses.
