Associated Environmental conducted Phase I Environmental Site Assessments of ten housing units on the Hay River Reserve.
The Environmental Site Assessments followed the general protocols defined in the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Z768-01 (R2016)[1].
The objective of the Phase I Environmental Site Assessments was to qualitatively assess the level of risk of soil, soil vapour, and groundwater contamination underlying the properties, from both current and past land uses and from activities on neighbouring properties. The Phase I Environmental Site Assessments were undertaken to aid the Northwest Territories Housing Corporation in determining the next steps towards the proposed land transfer to the K’atl’odeeche First Nation.
Project Highlights
The Corporation initiated the project primarily to fulfill their environmental due diligence. Our reports were used to coordinate the next steps of the Phase II and III Environmental Site Assessments and remediation of the properties, and to be reviewed by the Government of the Northwest Territories, Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
