Associated Environmental completed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment at the North Okanagan Child Care and Montessori Preschool Society in Vernon, B.C.
The study was carried out in a manner consistent with the Canadian Standards Association methods, and followed protocols of the B.C. Environmental Management Act.
The methods used to evaluate the level of environmental risk at the subject site included:
- Review of historical documents
- Examination of aerial photographs of the site and surrounding areas from the UBC Geographic Information Centre Collection and Google Earth
- Interviews to determine current and past uses of the site
- Searches of relevant B.C. Ministry of Environment databases, including the Water Resources Atlas
- A site inspection
The child care and preschool was operational during the study and site inspection. All precautions were taken to minimize disruption to the operations of the center.
