Johnston Canyon is one of the most popular day hikes in Banff National Park. It’s accessible year-round, including the winter when you can enjoy hiking to Johnston Canyon’s frozen waterfalls.
Parks Canada has engaged Associated Engineering (AE) to perform work at Johnston Canyon Day Use Area and Campgrounds. The work was divided into multiple phases that include electrical infrastructure upgrades, water distribution system upgrades, a new water treatment facility, sanitary sewer collection system upgrades, a new septic system, existing parking lot reconfiguration and upgrade, Highway 1A pavement overlay and a new roundabout.
The roundabout is located at the intersection of Highway 1A and the Johnston Canyon day use area. The existing T- intersection will be upgraded to a single lane roundabout to accommodate the newly developed passenger vehicle parking lot and overflow parking lot.
