Associated Engineering teamed with McElhanney, GEC Architecture, and Thurber Engineering to review the concept layout, provide an updated layout and transition into preliminary engineering, detailed design and construction services for St. Albert’s new transit centre and park and ride located along Campbell Road in northwest Edmonton.

The initial phase of the transit centre and park and ride consists of about 800 paved public parking stalls in two lots, a concrete bus loop with room for 16 bus bays, a stormwater management facility, and a heated building with public washrooms, vendor kiosk, and a waiting area. Improvements were completed along Campbell Road, including two signalized accesses for the park and ride with additional acceleration and deceleration lanes. This was a multi-disciplinary project involving civil works, structural, mechanical, electrical, roadways, drainage, architectural, and landscape disciplines.

Construction of the new park and ride facility began in July 2019 and was completed over two construction seasons. We provided full-time construction supervision and was the first point of contact between the contractor and the City of St. Albert.

The facility was opened to the public in September 2020.
