The City of Hamilton retained Associated Engineering to undertake an emergency repair of the 151 Pedestrian Bridge.
The original structure had been subjected to severe chloride damage as the pedestrian walkway is salted during the winter months. Upon investigation of the structure, we found the floor system particularly at the structure ends had reached end of life and posed an operational hazard to the structure.
Associated Engineering took specific measurements and undertook a detailed analysis of the structure and determined remedial work was required to maintain operation of the structure. The expedient repair was installed and allowed the structure to remain open until its scheduled replacement.
