Our project team conducted a study to create a market-based Strategic Plan to guide development and attract new investment to downtown Prince Albert.
he six-month interactive planning process invited stakeholders to share their input through vision building workshops. Together they envisioned a downtown “that capitalized on its role as the social, economic, and cultural hub and gateway to northern Saskatchewan and that reflects it stature as the province’s oldest city.”
We were responsible for base mapping, research and analysis, Stakeholder Focus Groups/Interviews, preparing background reports, vision building workshops, and preparing the final Plan.
The study concluded with recommendations for an investment Action Program and a Main Street Program among other things to boost economic development. Some of the recommendations such as the Safe and clean Initiatives were also geared towards alleviating social and cultural issues. The Plan also included recommendations to monitor the progress of the plan by benchmarking results and creating a database.
