Associated Engineering served as lead consultant on this bridge replacement and road improvement project for the Howard’s Pass Access Road, an 80 kilometre long stretch that was originally constructed in the late 1970s.
It connects from 188 kilometres east of Yukon’s Campbell Highway along Nahanni Range Road, and leads to Selwyn Chihong Mining’s Howard’s Pass Property. The mine site contains a world-class zinc-lead deposit situated along the border between Yukon and the Northwest Territories.

We prepared bridge designs, managed construction, prepared contract documents, tendered both the bridge replacement and road improvement phases, administered contracts, and provided on-site inspection services. The project was challenging due to its very remote location. The winter bridge work was completed during very harsh conditions, including some -40 degree Celsius days. We were also able to meet an aggressive schedule for eight bridges and, in less than a year, rebuilt 80 kilometres of road that now reaches the exploration camps.
