The Village of Cache Creek sustained substantial damage due to the 1 in 100-year heavy rainfall event and resulting flash flooding event of May 23rd, 2015.
NOR•EX Engineering provided disaster response, recovery and strategy development.
Five days following the event – working on behalf of Emergency Management British Columbia (EMBC) and then for the Village of Cache Creek directly – NOR•EX Engineering assumed the operations lead of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC); developed a transition plan from EOC to a Recovery Operations Centre, and developed a recovery plan on behalf of the Village of Cache Creek.
Project Highlights
These activities were required to successfully transition from emergency response into a short and long term recovery program. NOR•EX Engineering worked with senior Village of Cache Creek administration to develop a strategy to expedite and prioritize immediate response activities, managed the EOC, establish an effective communication channel with EMBC, as well as coordinating the damage assessments required to create and submit a recovery plan.
