Corix Utilities Inc. owns and operates the Wastewater Treatment Plant in the rural subdivision of Heritage Pointe. Heritage Pointe is located in the M.D. of Foothills, immediately south of The City of Calgary.
The Heritage Pointe service area currently has approximately 872 residential and commercial connections, and up to 1002 total connections are expected at full build out.
Associated Engineering was engaged to review and assess the Wastewater Treatment Plant and related systems. This review provided an assessment of condition and capacity for the existing system. Options for upgrades to the system were presented with costs, and the decision was made to proceed with the replacement of membrane bioreactor Train 2 to increase the capacity and reliability of the system.
In 2017, AE provided detailed design engineering services to support upgrades of the replacement of membrane bioreactor train 2 (including process, mechanical, structural, electrical and instrumentation works), construction drawings and specifications, and engineering support. The upgrades included a new PLC for Train 2, a new MCC for Train 2, pumps, blowers and electrical upgrades.
