Associated Environmental has completed key elements of the vegetation, soil, and biodiversity assessments required for Mines Act permits at three metallurgical coal mines.
Teck Resources was proposing to expand its mines at Fording River and Greenhills and planning a new mine near its Coal Mountain facilities.
Mining activities in the scope of the work included surface mining, waste rock stockpiles, transportation, surface water management, and mine reclamation. The work included completing baseline assessments, impact assessments, and reclamation planning. Baseline assessments required a mix of GIS-based data compilation and analysis, field calibration, and quantitative modelling, which formed the basis for subsequent impact assessment and mine reclamation planning.
