Associated Engineering completed an assessment of water quality in Coal Lake for the City of Wetaskiwin.

An authorization under the provincial Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA) required the period testing of water quality in Coal Lake for the continued operation of the City’s waste water treatment plant.

  • Associated Engineering’s in-house limnologists and aquatics specialists managed and conducted all aspects project including:
  • Review of existing reports and data on the lake’s water quality
    Development of a sampling methodology to assess the lake in spring, summer, and fall
  • Collection of water samples from 12 boat accessed locations on Coal Lake and one location in the waste water treatment plant
  • Laboratory analysis of the water quality data, and interpretation of results to meet EPEA authorization requirements

Associated Engineering’s field specialists completed the sampling work efficiently and effectively despite logistical constraints and adverse environmental conditions. Status reports and water quality assessments were delivered on time and on budget by a highly specialized team of Associated Engineering environmental professionals.
