Associated Engineering completed the detailed design of the 22.5 ML Phase 1 Clayton Reservoir. This reservoir replaces an aging and undersized 7.5 ML circular tank.
Hydraulic constraints dictated that the majority of the new reservoir structure projects significantly above grade.
Our involvement began in 2011 with a review of two adjacent sites for the placement of the new reservoir. Through extensive liaison, we were able to arrive at a solution that would meet Metro Vancouver’s requirements for long-term planning and operation, and the City of Surrey’s desire to maximize the area for a planned neighbourhood Hazelgrove Park. Upon successful property negotiation and realignment of the project site, Metro Vancouver retained Associated Engineering to undertake the preliminary and detailed design of the new two-cell 22.5 ML reservoir.
Project Highlights
Associated Engineering has provided on-going technical support to Metro Vancouver, as well as public consultation support services for the City of Surrey’s Parks and Engineering Department. We also developed an innovative architectural and landscape concept to mitigate the reservoir’s height and massing. This project will enhance the existing reservoir site by restoring the project area and integrating it with the surrounding community and Hazelgrove Park. The reservoir will become a functional public asset, and will be approachable without fences or barriers.
