Technical Specialist, Wetlands and Restoration
Kristen is a Senior Wetland Scientist and Restoration Ecologist with 27 years of professional experience specializing in the design and implementation of wetland and stream restoration projects, wetland delineation, functional assessment, remote sensing, wetland monitoring, stormwater management and erosion and sediment control design.
ON GIVING BACK
Kristen has volunteered for the Alberta Native Plant Council for since 2009. She contributes her time towards education and conservation initiatives. Representative projects include contributing to publications, completing volunteer based-restoration projects, establishing a conservation coalition and working as the steward for Whitehorse Wildland Provincial Park, and serving as president.
ON MENTORSHIP
As a technical specialist, her primary focus is mentoring staff. Kristen is passionate as an educator and has been teaching wetland courses at the University of Alberta since 2010 including a course on wetland assessment and a course on wetland restoration and construction. She also teaches stream restoration workshops for stewardship groups and municipalities.
